Vinho D’Autor aka Winemaker’s Selection is a new project by the Sidonio de Sousa family that promises to release tiny amounts of special baga juice in a tiny range of selected vintages.

Every year, baga expresses itself differently, and every year different parts of the vineyard produce different expressions of baga.

Every grape that goes into Vinho D’Autor is selected for its uniqueness. These grapes are not used in the Reserva, nor do they fit the profile of the Garrafeira, but they are special and need time.

2015 is the third vintage the family has released and it is simply splendidly Portuguese baga.

A bit younger than its previous releases, this 2015 is far softer and ready to drink now. Smooth tannins, beautifully earthy, filled with dark deep cherried fruit, with a hint of herbs. Drink or hold. Either way, you’ll want more.
